Winchester isn't the only area with an alert system.
Counties throughout the northern valley have their own systems in place. Clarke County just rolled out its Code Red earlier this year. Alert Frederick County sends out texts to residents signed up for alerts. In Shenandoah County, you can sign up for Deltalert.
In Warren County, dispatchers have reverse 911 to use in case of an emergency.
