Tuesday marks the 8th straight missed school day because of inclement weather.
School administrators are working with V-DOT, Virginia State Police, and county deputies to make sure all bus routes are safe.
Snow banks are very high limiting line of site and some buses can't turn around in cul-de-sacs.
Students are losing time in the classroom to study for SOL tests and administrators want to get school open as soon as possible.
Steve Edwards of FCPS says even though many road conditions have improved and are passable, there are still streets that are hazardous to school buses.
"Were asking for parents to be on the look-out for students that may be waiting at bus stops and so forth, maybe find areas that are not out in the road if the normal stop area has got a pile of snow there or something, maybe find an area they can wait safely for the bus," explains Edwards.
Drivers are urged to watch out for kids waiting at bus stops with high snow banks.
"Big piles of snow are out there and it can be enticing to young children and they will want to play on them and things like that and that's probably not the best idea when they're waiting for the school bus out there along the roadway," says Edwards. He adds, "So if parents and members of the community can work together, we can hopefully get the schools reopened, and make sure that its a safe reopening."
School officials also urge parents to help their children study and get back into the rhythm of being in school.
"In just the same way many people dig out to clear a path for their mail man or mail lady that deliver the mail, if they could try to work together in these communities to clear out a space for the students to wait for their buses and just to keep an eye on students," explains Edwards.
