Most athletes look forward to their senior year, but Handley tennis player Kristin Gordon, almost didn't have one. A serious shoulder injury threatened her final season as a Judge, but even down an arm, Gordon was still committed to her sport and her team.
"I know at times she was out on the court hitting left handed." Kristin's coach Terry Ewell tells us, "she's a right handed tennis player and she would go out and hit lefty just to continue to work on the footwork."
The partnership between sports and school has greatly benefited Gordon, who carries a 3.814 GPA and later this spring will look to win her 3rd straight district title at number 1 singles.
"I think athletics have definitely helped me in school, with pressure." notes Gordon. "Being able to deal with that pressure on a test, and not get too overwhelmed."
Congratulations to Kristin Gordon of Handley High School, TV3 Winchester's Student Athlete of the Week.
