Greg Van Sickler has command of most situations, whether on the base paths, or the mound, this James Wood senior is very good in the clutch. "I've had a couple pressure situations in the past and I've learned from my mistakes, so I have a little more confidence going into the pressure situations." says Van Sickler, a self described computer geek. "If the games on the line, we want Greg to have the ball on the mound." noted Greg's coach Jared Mounts. "If you need to get a guy on, if Greg's coming up we feel like we have an advantage."
With a 3.78 GPA and an miniscule 0.7 ERA Greg is the perfect example of a student athlete, and the Blue and Gold's ace says school has helped with sports.
"I get tired in school and I try and keep my head up, that carries over to baseball. In the 6th and 7th innings, you get real tired, you have to just take a breath and get back in there."
Congratulations to Greg Van Sickler of James Wood High School, TV3 Winchesters Student Athlete of the Week.
