Christa Doerwaldt is having mixed emotions about her senior year.
"You're the oldest there, you have seniority and everything. On the other hand, it's like it's over, life's next." Says Doerwaldt.
Despite leaving her friends and memories at Handley High School, she's excited about traveling to Mexico after graduation.
"I like the Spanish language and I love being able to lie around on the beach all day and pretty much do nothing." Says Doerwaldt.
After taking the maximum amount of advanced placement classes and achieving over a 5.0 GPA, Doerwaldt deserves a rest from literally running around all the time. Along with lettering in cross - country, indoor and outdoor track, Christa uses her knowledge of Spanish to translate at the free medical center.
"We've had people come in pretty hurting, and they're are like, I need help right now, It hurts really bad right in my stomach or wherever." Says Doerwaldt.
It's experiences like that, which are sure to help Christa in her career as a doctor. Doerwaldt plans on studying medicine at William and Mary or UVA. Her coach says she already has the skills necessary to do that.
"You could ask for a better person, she goes out and does what she is told to do, she does question anything, she doesn't whine about anything, she just goes out and does it." Says Handley High Shools Oudoor Track and Field Coach, Sam Findley.
With a strong work ethic and infectious smile, Christa is definitely on the right track.
Congratulation to Christa Doerwaldt, from Handley High School, TV 3 Winchester Study Athlete of The Week.
