If you watched the James Wood Volleyball team at all this year, chances are you noticed one player... Mackenzie Tingle had a hand in almost every big play this fall for the blue and gold, and our Student Athlete of the Week wouldn't have it any other way.
"Setters call the plays, setters touch every ball" notes Tingle, "all the players look up to you, and you are in every play."

The Colonels had a great season, going to the region playoffs before falling to eventual state champion Loudoun County. Tingle earned Northwestern District player of the year honors.
"She's out their running the plays, setting things up for our hot hand." says James Wood Volleyball Coach Carla Milton, "she did a great job distributing the ball for us this year."

Mackenzie is a setter for the Colonels, the setter is volleyball's equivalent to a quarterback... and just like a quarterback has to be smart in order to run an offense, it helps to have brains when you are the straw that stirs the drink.
"You take control, you make the team combine.. and you set the pace" declares Tingle of her role as setter. "With her being able to tell the rest of the girls what they need to do, she's an extension of me on the court" adds Milton.
Congratulations to James Wood High School's Mackenzie Tingle... TV3 Winchester's Student Athlete of the Week.
