With spelling skills like that it should come as no surprise that Millbrook’s Butch Kaczmarzewski is a 4.0 student. But don’t be fooled by the grades, Butch can deliver a big hit when needed and he says having practice after a long day of school is good for him although it might not be so good for his teammates.
"As far as having a bad day at school and then going to practice, it's nice to clear my head from school and to take a break from the books and go out and break some other people's heads," Kaczmarzewski said.
While Butch plays loud, scoring key touchdowns for the Pioneers offense and always being around the ball for Millbrook’s defense, his leadership style isn’t necessarily predicated on volume. Instead, Kaczmarzewski relies on leading by example.
"He's the first one in and out of every drill, he has high energy on the field, he leads in the weight room, he's just an asset to our program," Millbrook Head Coach Reed Prosser said.
"I'm more the quiet guy who leads by example. When it's my time to step up I let people know how I want things done,” Kaczmarzewski added.
When you watch a Millbrook football game, you always see #44 on the field. Offense, defense, special teams, the only place you won’t find Butch is on the bench. And as his coach will tell you, that has just as much to do with Kaczmarzewski’s mental abilities as it does with his intimidating physical presence.
"He's definitely a coach on the field. He understands what we want to do scheme wise, he also understands what his role is and what every other person's role on the team is so he's able to get people in and out of position,” Prosser said.
Congratulations to Millbrook’s Butch Kaczmarzewski, TV3 Winchester’s Student Athlete of the Week.
