RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Virginia has revived a loan program that
provides financing for energy efficiency projects in state
agencies.
Gov. Timothy M. Kaine said Friday that the state has obtained
$40 million in financing for the Energy Leasing Program. The
program had been inactive since late 2008 when its capital
contracts expired.
Kaine said improving conditions in financial markets allowed the
state to revive the program.
George Mason University will receive the first loan, $6.6 million for lighting, metering and other upgrades at its Fairfax and Prince William campuses.
