Western Va. US Magistrate Judge to Retire in 2013

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- U.S. Magistrate Judge B. Waugh Crigler plans to retire when his term expires next year.

Federal court officials announced Crigler's retirement Monday.

Crigler has served as magistrate judge for the Western District of Virginia since 1981. His current term expires on September 30, 2013.

Crigler served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Robert Love Taylor in the Eastern District of Tennessee after he graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1973. He also worked for a law firm in Culpeper before he was appointed as magistrate judge.

He has been an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia for more than 25 years.
