Authorities have found a sport-utility vehicle that ran off the Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel and plunged into the water.
Virginia Beach police spokesman Officer Adam Bernstein told The Virginian-Pilot that searchers using sonar found the vehicle between 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The Coast Guard says two people are believed to have been in the vehicle when it ran off the bridge-tunnel Tuesday morning near the eight-mile post. The search for them continues.
Cpl. Steve Wilson with the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel police told the newspaper that about ten to 20 feet of guardrail on the bridge's left side was damaged.
Wilson says the circumstances of the accident aren't clear.
