(AP) - The State Fair of Virginia is kicking off its 10-day run on Friday with new owners and attractions.
The Farm Bureau Federation and Universal Fairs are teaming up to present the annual agricultural attraction, which runs through Oct. 7 at The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County.
Officials say the popular racing pigs will be part of the attractions, as well as the opportunity to see Alaskan grizzly bears and Bengal tigers.
The Farm Bureau has touted the fair's return to its agricultural roots, with an emphasis on livestock exhibits and competitions.
Universal purchased the Caroline County property in May for $5.67 million from the debt-ridden former operator of the 150-year-old fair. The Farm Bureau later decided to partner with the entertainment company.
