Skyline High School is brand new, but the football team it's inheriting is anything but. With plenty of returning players and a returning head coach, the Hawks are ready to take flight in their first year.
"I think everyone is in it for the right reasons, just trying to win." says running back Nathaniel Jackson. "Everyone is pulling for each other, there are no bad apples. Everyone is friends and we have a lot of team chemistry."
In a unique scheduling quirk, Warren County and Skyline will play twice both this season and next. Though the rivalry is still in it's infancy, the Hawks can't wait to meet up with their old friends. "During the game whenever they make a good play I'll be pumped for them then I'll realize we are playing against them." said linebacker Michael Presley. "I think it's just going to be like having fun with my friends."
Much like their counterparts at Warren County, Skyline's players will have a lot of chances to make history in 2007, opportunities they are definitely looking forward to. "We set up a website so we are going to have these records posted." said Head Coach Heath Gilbert. "These guys definitely want to set the bar high and see how long their name will last."
