Running a mile in five minutes is difficult no matter what.

Running a five minute mile in 20 different races, traveling to 20 different cities, over a 20 week span, that's just crazy.

It's also what 45-year-old runner David O'Meara is trying to do. One of his stops is right here in the Valley for Saturday's First Bank Loudoun Street Mile Race. It's the 8th stop on his tour, and as he approaches the halfway point of his journey, the Florida resident shows no signs of slowing down.

"I can run high 4:30's to 4:40's" notes O'Meara. "It's really a challenge for me, but it is set up to challenge myself and push the envelope a little bit."

One of O'Meara's goals is to show people that it's never too late to get in shape. At the age of 45, most people might think their physical peak is well behind them, but O'Meara proves that's not necessarily true.

"I really wanted to do something at 45 that was special," says O'Meara, whose cross country journey is sponsored by the national razor company HeadBlade. "My dad died at 56, so I'm not looking for quantity of life, I'm looking for quality."
