Sandi Webster is certainly a local hero here in the Northern Shenandoah Valley. She is described by her colleagues as "an unstoppable spirit that will help out in any way she can whenever she can."
Her nomination was enough in itself to hail her a hero all around this area:
"I don't believe I have ever heard her turn anyone down for help when the situation is legitimate. What impresses me the most though is how she does not just give a hand out; she also provides a hand up. In every endeavor she partakes in, I have seen how she not only addresses the immediate issue at hand; she also provides information on the initial steps to resolve the problem. Through this ethic, I believe she is providing the greatest good... solutions, not fixes. "
Sandi is also a mother of 3 and works 2 jobs; the Director of Adventureland Learning Center (a day care that takes in kids from the social services system) and International Missions Director for Grace Community Church.
Many of her other accolades include Big Brothers/Big Sisters case manager and has reached out to some of the most at risk children and helped them to become fully functional members of society with strong positive work ethics and morals. She is also the founder of the Winchester Mobile Soup Kitchen, Member of the Disaster Action Team for the Red Cross over the last 10 years, Operation Christmas Child "Relay Collection Coordinator", part of delivering Christmas Gifts for Families in need, a Service Committee Member for Habitat for Humanity, apart of the GCC Food Pantry in which she organizes and creates care packages of food for area residents and Outreach Director to Africa for the Grace Community Church - (with this she established 3 orphan centers in Malawi that feed over 300 children per day--in Gatonga there is presently an orphan center that feeds 100 kids per days, and through parts of Africa she has coordinated the delivery of medicine for malaria.)
Sandi has also helped convert some of the homeless from their current state into a position where they can once again provide for themselves and not use as many local government programs.
"Sandi is one the most giving, unselfish, loving person I've ever met. She's taught people to never give up. She is a strong positive influence to everyone she comes in contact and constantly encourages others to get involved in the community."
Sandi is truly a local hero!
