Robert E. Underwood, Sr., previously of 232 Beech Street, Holyoke, Massachusetts passed away on July 8th, 2012. In 1992, after caring for Disabled Veterans in their homes, he, along with his wife, Jeanette, retired to West Virginia. In 2006, he relocated to Winchester, Virginia residing with his daughter, Paulette until his death. Born May 14, 1926, he served in WWII in the 1st Airborne Division. Robert married Jeanette I. LaFortune on February 9, 1945. Jeanette preceded him in death in November, 1995. He is survived by six children, Robert Jr., Sheila, Paulette, Leslie, Curtis and Scott; nineteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara LaFortune; sisters-in-law, Carol and Ida and many, many nieces and nephews. He thought often of his family and loved them all.
