| Hattie Irene Ratliff Combs, 81, of Winchester, went to join her loving husband on Saturday, February 27, 2010. She was born June 11, 1928 in Laytonsville, MD, the daughter of Walter G. and Hattie Miller Mobley Ratliff. She was married to Lloyd L. Combs, Sr. who died November 5, 1998. Mrs. Combs had worked for National Geographic and later for Super Fresh in the bakery. She enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables and watching birds and all wildlife. Surviving are three daughters, Mary Lou Atkins and Vallorie Orndorff both of Winchester and Jane Savage of Thurmont, MD; four sons, Lloyd L. Combs, Jr. of Martinsburg, WV, Richard Combs of Delaware, Dennis Combs of Winchester and Lynn Combs of Thurmont, MD; nineteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Josephine Cox, Doris Chamberlain, Betty Eichelberger and Hazel Moxley and three brothers, Walter Ratliff, Jr., John Ratliff and A. Herbert Ratliff. A funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Dr. Ken Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Dennis Combs, Lynn Combs, Richard Combs, Jimmy Atkins, David Savage, Louis LaBille and Lloyd Combs, Jr. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in Phelps Funeral Chapel, 5095 Main Street, Stephens City. www.phelpsfunerals.com | |
