When Psychiatrists Warn Authorities

The psychiatrist who treated the alleged Colorado shooter is now saying she reached out to police when she was worried about his behavior.

So what happens when a psychiatrist warns police that someone could threaten your life?

A Frederick County Captain says they would handle the situation as if anyone called them worried about a love one hurting themselves, or others.

He says as soon as they get warning, they go right to the person’s house to do an evaluation.

If the person has behavior showing they are mentally unstable, then they go into action.

"We will take them into custody, take them to Winchester Medical Center where they will be seen by North Western Community Services and North Western Community Services will do the evaluation on them, and they will determine weather treatment will take place," said Captain John Heflin.

He says within four hours someone who needs help has to be in a facility where they will receive help.
