Trent's family invited the entire community to celebrate his life Thursday afternoon at Strasburg High School.
Thousands of people filled the gymnasium.
One of those people was Sara McClelland. She was a nursing student at UVA while Trent spend time at their hospital.
McClelland met Trent over a year ago and instantly felt a connection.
She says Trent had a positive outlook on life, which is tough, considering how hard he fought cancer.
"He would walk in the room and have this big crooked smile. He's just a kid that loves everybody and he made everybody feel loved. Made everybody feel great. Just a wonderful child... very brave and full of life," said McClelland.
Sara also mentioned that even when Trent was crying and in pain while receiving treatments, he always made it a point to thank the nurses and doctors for trying to make him feel better.
Trent attended Sara's graduation from UVA in May and sat with her family.
He called her his 'sissy.'
