People have been fighting for the PATH project to stay out of their backyard since the proposal was first submitted and now it looks like they are getting their wish.

John Venskoske owns land that the proposed transmission line would have passed through. He says the news makes him feel like all the back and forth was worth the effort.

The 765 kilovolt transmission line would have crossed a portion of the 180 acres Venskoske owns. He says, "It's hurting our area. It's going to take one of my friends houses and another guys barn and i don't think it's necessary."

It looks like Venskoske and his neighbors can rest easy for now as American Electric Power and First Energy Corporation announced they are withdrawing applications to build the line.

Representative Frank Wolf has been a longtime opponent of the project citing the fact that the power would not have served the areas the powerline would go through.

Wolf tells TV, "They could never make the case for this project. They never made the case for it and the fact that citizens pushed back is an indication that you can be successful in pushing back but it was a good unified effort against this."
