"I'd probably be on the couch eating potato chips."
That's 10-year-old Drew Fergus.
Drew and a lot of his friends come to the Phoenix Aquatic and Fitness Center to swim.
"This place, in my mind, is a gold mine really for the region."
Andrea Fergus is his mother and she drives her four kids all the way from Winchester.
"Winchester, Strasburg, Front Royal, it's just so centrally located and the fact that it has an indoor pool we really have such limited facilities for the community but particularly the kids in the area."
Jeff Taylor decided the center needed to become more tailored to peoples needs, so they up-ed their game and added programs for everyone.
"Do more than just use your thumb and text. Come out and some exercise and healthy mental thoughts," Taylor Said.
Dianne Maggard just started coming to do Water Aerobics.
“I think there is a need, so people can have more options of what they can do with their time and help them health wise or fun wise."
Today her granddaughter came with her!
"We got out the noodles and we did crunches and then we got out the weight bars and we just exercised with them," said 5th grader Sarah Runion.
Maggard says she's thinking of trying something new.
"Maybe the Zumba, if i get up enough nerve," she said.
As for Drew, being inside and swimming seems to be his thing."
"I get burnt a lot. It's embarrassing."
