The amphibious dock landing ship and 357 sailors and Marines are
scheduled to return Sunday to Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek
at Fort Story in Virginia Beach.
The sailors and Marines aboard the Fort McHenry arrived in Haiti
on Jan. 18, less than one week after a deadly earthquake rocked the
country. While they were there, they handled 3,500 pounds of
medical aid, 40,000 jars of peanut butter and 41 pallets of water
and grain.
The ship also delivered heavy equipment used in the relief
effort.
