The front royal town council is playing all of its cards to tackle a projected 1-million dollar shortfall.
There could be cuts in services and smaller paychecks for some people.
Council is considering a 5% pay cut for town employees, that includes police officers.
No formal vote has been made, but the department is already taking action.
Police chief Richard Furr says his $3.5 million dollar budget is already tight, with most of it eaten up in salaries and benefits.
Chief Furr is meeting with the town manager Tuesday to figure out what can be done.
