Crews are nearing completion of the Warren County Skate Park, but winter weather has delayed the opening.
Crews lost about eight weeks of construction time because of rain and snow this winter. Warren County Parks and Recreation Officials are asking for an extension on the project from the grant provider.
The project is now scheduled to be complete around the middle of April. The $482,000 project now includes a sidewalk and viewing areas where residents can safely watch skaters. "This park, in my experience with parks in the Mid-Atlantic, I think this is going to be the nicest skateboard park in the Mid-Atlantic region, and around the beltway, D.C., Baltimore, Maryland and I really believe this park is going to draw a lot of people to Front Royal. It should really bring tax dollars to Front Royal and stimulate the economy," says Owner of Beacon Hardscapes Robert Resh.
The park will be open to the public free of charge. Some are saying it will be the premier skate park on the east coast.
