Clarke County School Officials are determining how to make up for days missed this winter. Tuesday will be the eighth day students have missed school because of flooding and snow.
The school system has five days built into the student calendar. Officials are crunching numbers to figure out the best way to make up for lost time.
"If we have to we can extend the student day, we can also add days to the calendar. Given the fact that many people have vacations and holidays already planned it would not be my intent to add days to the calendar unless it is absolutely necessary," says Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Murphy.
Dr. Murphy says the school system can accommodate the time missed by counting the number of minutes students are required to be in school for a year.
