Winchester city is in Snow Plan C until further notice. Downtown contractors are loading snow into dump trucks.
The dump trucks then take the snow to the Utilities Holding Center on Woodstock Lane.
Many city employees worked on clearing sidewalks throughout the day.
Some streets downtown had to be temporarily closed in order for crews to get the snow out.
Winchester City Traffic Supervisor Justin Hall says operations have been going pretty well since Friday.
"The process has been pretty smooth. A lot of people aren't out in our downtown area so now is the time to do it," says Hall. "We have to haul it, there is nowhere to put the snow, so we have to remove it and haul it away," adds Hall.
Public works employees are in rotations, working 12 hours on then 12 hours off. The city is requesting that residents not park on the streets and drive only when necessary to allow for the snow to be removed quickly.
"It has been very smooth. We have had some practice this year. The guys have been doing a great job. We are going to stay at it and keep going to get it cleaned up," adds Hall.
