Heavy snow leads to building collapses

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Several buildings around the Mid-Atlantic
region have collapsed under the weight of heavy, wet snow built up
on roofs.
D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Pete Piringer says firefighters
responded to at least a half dozen collapses around the city Saturday including a small church that collapsed after a tree fell on its roof.
The Archdiocese of Washington says the roof of St. John School
in Hollywood, Maryland, collapsed destroying six classrooms, the
computer lab, library and offices.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority says a hangar roof collapsed at the Dulles Jet Center on Saturday, but the extent of the damage to four private jets inside isn't yet known.
St. Mary's County Fire and Rescue says a storage warehouse in
California, Maryland, collapsed. A firefighter cut his hand, but no other injuries were reported.
