Strasburg Plans to increase Tourism through Art

Strasburg has teamed up with the arts and cultural district in an effort to increase tourism in the area.

Marcy mccann envisioned this project years ago.

"And i thought what a great venue, to show case the art in this hallway is just perfect"

Mccann says part of the revitalization strategy is to involve and showcase a lot of the small businesses.

"its a way for the general public to get to enjoy this art in their day to day business transactions"

"since i was three, i think i have always had an interest in art, you know you can not live in the shenandoah valley and not be inspired in any way." Says artist, Bobbie Walker.

In Strasburg, art exists in corners you wouldn't imagine, like in restaurants and even in the town's post office.

"All of this is a replication of whats been given to us." says Walker

People like Mccann and Walker are working with the town to transform places like this court yard.


They says different pieces of art are hiding all over strasburg.

Art lovers hope this new partnership will bring in more than just business, but appreciation for what they do.

"When im looking at you i see everything around you and i mean i see the horizontals and the verticals and the shading i think it enriches your life so much to really learn how to see, not just pass something" Said McCann.
