UPDATE: Names have been released and Virginia State Police are investigating two separate crashes that happened less than a mile from one another in Warren County Saturday evening.

The first crash took the life of 54-year-old, Ricky Cromer, from Front Royal just before 6 p.m. He was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle when it ran off the right side of Rivermont Drive, went through a small bush and struck a campaign sign. He was wearing a helmet, but died after being flown to Winchester Medical Center.

The cause of that crash is still being investigated.

The second crash also happened on Rivermont Drive. State Trooper RL Fiorvanti was responding to the first crash.

When the trooper rounded a curve, another motorcycle crossed the center line and sideswiped the trooper's car just after 6 p.m.

The impact caused the motorcycle to run off the left side of the road and strike a tree. The driver, 43-year-old Larry Darr, Jr. of Front Royal was thrown from the bike. He was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He was wearing a helmet.

The patrol car he hit had its lights and sirens on before the accident happened.

This crash is also under investigation.
