The National Weather Service in Sterling, Virginia has issued a High Wind Warning in effect for the entire viewing area until Tuesday evening. Winds sustained between 30-50mph with gusts greater than 55mph are possible Monday into Tuesday. This will lead to significant tree damage and you should plan for widespread power and communication outages.
They have also issued a Flood Watch in effect for Frederick and Clarke county as well as the City of Winchester until Tuesday evening. 2-4" with locally higher amounts are possible Monday into Tuesday. Major flooding is likely in our small streams and creeks. This would cause streams and creeks to rise and overflow their banks and flood low lying areas. People living in flood prone areas should be especially watchful over the next 72 hours.
