It's now day six of the Verizon strike and there is a new twist. More than a dozen Verizon worker's in our community have moved the protest to the wireless store on Pleasant Valley Road in Winchester.

"I mean we're not here to cause problems. We're here to try to tell our story and let the people know what we're up against. The injustice that we face and our determination to overcome this," said President of CWA Local 2222 Jim Hilleary.

Jim Hilleary worked for Verizon for 40 years, and is now retired. He still serves as the president of the local union. Hilleary says this strike is not only against Verizon, but it's also against Verizon Wireless.

"We've been trying to organize this group, but we haven't been able to organize them yet, but they're doing our work and that's what gives us the right to picket this," said Hilleary.

Verizon employees want Verizon Wireless employees to unionize too.

The Verizon employees that are striking in Winchester gathered at this Verizon Wireless store along Pleasant Valley Road. They were passing out these flyers that say 'Take a stand against corporate greed! Don't shop @ Verizon wireless!' They were passing out these flyers to customers at least until the Winchester Police Department showed up.

"The management of Verizon had a discussion with the actual people who own the property and then they requested us to come out. They called and then sent us an e-mail so we had verification in writing. And we showed that to the picketers from Verizon and they complied and left peacefully," said Winchester Police Department Sgt. Mark Lahman.

And peaceful negotiations are what Verizon leaders say they're looking for.

"The union picketers are trying anything they can to just gain attention but all the antics that they do can't hide the fact that these are very well compensated employees," said Verizon Public Relations Director Harry Mitchell.

At least one customer we heard from on our TV3 Facebook page told us, they're having trouble getting help from Verizon right now.

"Customers may experience a slightly longer delay in reaching our business office or in getting a repair," said Mitchell.

And a repair is exactly what is needed between Verizon and it's employees to get these picketers back to work.

Verizon and the union are in discussions, but we don't know how long it will take to reach an agreement.

Meantime, Verizon has recorded more than 100 instances of what they call sabotage, including one in Richmond.

Verizon says, people are cutting their lines and stealing and damaging electronics that help provide phone and internet service.

Look at the hate for organized labor! Please remember what Abraham Lincoln said "If any man tells you he loves America, yet hates labor, he is a liar. If any man tells you he trusts America, yet fears labor, he is a fool."....I can't understand why the American workforce has turned on its self.

You cant change these anti union people's minds. They think cuz they hit the bottom of the barrel everyone else should too. Ridiculous to think that because the economy is bad we should pack up and hit the streets. You freaking kidding me. It sure is nice to see how people turn on each when the going gets tough. Go after corporate america. It is an absolute embarassment with everything that is sold in america that we have unemployment as high as it is.

Reading through these other comments....You people are totally uneducated on this subject, seriously. Union officials stand with us every day on strike. And aren't collecting a paycheck either. Everyone has an opinion yet no one seems to know their facts.
