Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire that spread through two trailers and reached a third in Sandy's Trailer Park in Frederick County.

Sixteen people were displaced. Ten of them are being supported by the Red Cross and the other six have made their own arrangements.

It took 10 fire companies about an hour to get the fire under control at Sandy's Mobile Home Park.

Fire Chief Greg Locke says, it started in one home and because of the wind, it spread to the next two homes.

The fire broke out around 5:30 Tuesday evening at 2044 Fairfax Pike, lots 44 and 45.

Hope, We thankfully do not see things the same.. 10 years ago there were 16 people living in a 1 bedroom apartment here in Winchester and I found that to be disturbing. So many people in a small area.. I guess you think that would be ok if that is all they can afford....

Heather, why is it that you find 16 people living in 3 trailers disturbing? They could have been three families of 5 or 6 people. Economic times are hard and people live where they can afford to live, even if that means a family of 5 has to live in a 2 or 3 bedroom trailer. Maybe this is all that these families could afford. At least it was a roof over their heads. I truly feel bad for them and am thankful that nobody was seriously injured or killed. I had to witness the horror of 9 families being displaced from a condominium building in October 2008 and can only imagine how horrifying the mobile homes burning was to the people in that community.
