Tips to Plan Ahead for Emergencies

With all the severe weather, power outages, and accidents that have happened recently, local emergency planner are reminding residents to prepare for the worst.

They say having a kit together with essential survival tools can make weathering the storm a little easier. Emergencies aren't always weather related, though.

Tim Ray, Chair of the Winchester Emergency Planning Committee, explained, "It could be some type of incident where you can't leave your home. It could be an industrial incident or an accident on the highway that involves a chemical spill."

The local emergency planning committee works with residents to prepare for disaster like chemical spills and severe weather.
