CHESTERFIELD, Va. (AP) -- A teenager has been sentenced to two years and two months in prison for an accident that killed a fellow student at James River High School.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/MLYHwC) reports Erick A. Munoz was sentenced Tuesday in Chesterfield County Circuit Court for involuntary manslaughter. Munoz also received a suspended sentence for taking the car he crashed without the owner's consent.

Munoz admitted during trial that he drank as many as eight beers before the Nov. 26, 2011, accident that killed 17-year-old Luis M. Mendez.

Munoz was 18 at the time of the accident.
