Kids are getting ready to go back to school and shopping can be costly.
Starting Friday, the State is giving families a good reason to shop. It's a Tax Free Weekend.
Through Sunday, shoppers won't have to pay Virginia's five percent state and local sales tax.
Stores in our area are prepared for shoppers to stock up on school supplies and clothing.
While they say five percent isn't a lot, it does make a difference.
"Coupled with some of the sales we're running now at five percent off, it allows the kids to get what they need to go back to school to make sure they are prepared in every way, shape and form," said Target Executive Team Sales, Jeb Pinkerton.
Stores like Target also have more staff on hand and fully stocked shelves.
There are restrictions though.
Only school supplies selling for less than $20 and clothing selling for less than $100 will be exempt from sales tax.
