In addition to donating to the memorial fund, folks in our area have been helping her family in a unique way.

Dozens of people have been signing up to bring the Lucchiani family a meal through a website called takethemameal.com. They originally had slots for a month, from July 14th to August 14th, but they extended it through the end of August because of the overwhelming response.

Scallop potatoes, fried chicken, and sliced tomatoes... Kim Habel prepared this meal for the Lucchiani family Monday night to take to them on Tuesday. Habel says she doesn't even know the family.

"I wanted to help. That's it I just wanted to help," said Habel.

Habel says she found out about taking meals to the Lucchiani family from a post she saw on a friend's facebook page. A link to this website, takethemameal.com.

"To think you can go out one day and not come home. It's just scary," said Habel.

"Had something like that happen to me I would want people to reach out and take care of my children and my husband in the same way that people are taking care of Antonio and his children," said Stephanie Darnall of Clearbrook.

Stephanie Darnall has two small children around the same age as Amber's. She says she found out about "Take Them a Meal" through her work.

"When something like this happens everybody wants to be able to help out in some way or another and this seemed to be a really great way to do it," said Darnall.

As of Wednesday, more than 30 people have signed up to bring the Lucchiani family meals from Christmas dinner to their favorite take out.

"I know the response to it has been tremendous," said Darnall.

"When small kids are involved in something like that you're heart strings just break. It's so tragic. I just wanted to help," said Habel.

And help and support is what the Lucchiani family is getting.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the family," said Habel.

There are still slots available. So if you're interested in helping out, just go to takethemameal.com and type in Lucchiani.
