School is out, but that doesn't mean kids stop learning.
The summer reading program at the Samuels Public Library kicked off today.
Nearly 400 kids left the sunshine and headed indoors to celebrate reading.
This program encourages kids to read and keep track of their hours in order to earn prizes.
But they say they're in it for more than that.
"I like chapter books and how it gives me new words and I get to know new stuff that I never knew," said summer reader Sophia Holder.
"It just makes you imagine how and what it would feel like to be in that time or in the place. It's just wonderful," said summer reader Kisyl Housden.
Summer readers also told us that aside from the pool, the library is one of their favorite places to be in the summer.
