An ongoing debate in Strasburg is now being put to rest.
Proposed Tree Islands were causing quite a stir amongst the town.
Strasburg town council has now decided to get rid of them.
The plan was to have them placed in the middle of east and west king street as part of the streetscape enhancement project.
Town manager Judson Rex says there was concern over lost parking space, traffic, and safety.
"Sticking an island in the middle of the street does tend to cause people to be a little more cautious and drive slower, which is a positive thing for safety, but then we also have a lot of large trucks that come through down town. We were concerned about the movement if those trucks would work out with the islands."
Rex says the Tree Islands were meant to be a way of welcoming people to the town.
Town council is looking into alternative options.
