Strasburg wants to get more people recycling in town.
In fact, as part of a one year initiative the town council wants to collect 400 tons of recycling by this time next year.
The Town Manager says they sent approximately 2,000 tons of garbage to the landfill in 2011.
This initiative would reduce that by about 20 percent.
Taking anything to the landfill costs $36 per ton. By cutting down the amount of garbage, the town will also save money.
