A search committee has started to meet at the Handley library in Winchester looking for someone to fill a position they haven't had to worry about for 20 years.
The Library Director, Trish Ridgeway, is retiring in October.
She says her time as library director has been the most rewarding time of her professional career.
Some of the accomplishments in the two decades include building the Bowman Library in Stephens City, bringing in more library users and doing a lot of fundraising.
She says it just seemed like the right time.
Ridgeway tells TV3, "I'm turning 65. I will have been 20 years as library director and most importantly, we're celebrating the 100th anniversary of the library. So it just seemed like a very good coincidence of events and a good time to retire."
Ridgeway says you will still see her around the library after her retirement. It will be one of the many places she spends volunteering her time.
She says what she'll miss the most is working with the staff and interacting with everyone who comes through the doors.
