SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia's oldest town is preparing to celebrate its 250th anniversary.
Shepherdstown's yearlong celebration will begin in November. It will end in December 2012 with a parade featuring descendants of the town's founders.
Local business owner and Meredith Wait tells The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown, Md., that the celebration's theme is "Remember, Celebrate and Imagine."
Initial plans recently released by the organization committee include a community quilt and at least one commemorative book. Shepherdstown was founded on Dec. 23, 1762.
