The Canoe Capital of Virginia is getting ready for Riverfest this weekend.
It's an event dedicated to celebrating the Shenandoah River.
This year, organizers are really making an effort to bring educational components to Riverfest.
They also say that river safety is one of the most important issues.
Making sure visitors to the park wear life vests is a big concern.
"Even in rafts, big rafts, we make the kids all wear vests at all times. It is easy to fall out. This is a very rocky river," said Riverfest volunteer, Brian Bennett.
They're also focusing on topics like wildlife, water conservation, tree care and environmental awareness.
Riverfest is at the Shenandoah River State Park on Saturday.
