The numbers are in from this year's Taste of the Town event to benefit the Free Medical Clinic of the Northern Shenandoah Valley.
This year $111,755 was raised. After event expenses are paid for $99,447 will help to make a difference for residents in our community who don't have insurance. "We're looking at 10,000 patient visits this year and an average of treating 200 patients a week. We have about $5 million in medications that we need to make sure our patients are getting. So, it will go to help support all those services," says Free Medical Clinic Executive Director Vicki McClelland.
The money will also be used to buy flu vaccines that were cut out of the state budget this year. Tuesday a reception was held to thank many of the volunteers. This was the 15th anniversary of Taste of the Town.
