Regional Jail Moving Forward

Plans for the regional jail in Warren County are moving forward.

Warren County Sheriff McEathron says, construction is moving along faster than he thought.

He says they're starting to put walls up and they hope to have some of the pre-cast cells in place by next week.

It's important to get certain things done before winter because it's hard to work outside.

The contractor has a plan to get a portion of the project under a roof so they can work indoors.

He says a lot of progress was made within the last week and they seem to be ahead of schedule.

"The deadline is that we want to be moving in and occupy that by July 1st, 2014. So, by the end of June we need to have that facility fully operational because the sheriffs will no longer have funding for their jails. At that point it all goes back to the regional jail. The timeline is extremely important. Of course, it's still a long way away but it's important that they're making good head way from the beginning.

McEathron says he's not sure what comes next with construction, but we will be sure to give you the updates when information becomes available.
