Police Chase Leads to Arrest

Sergeant Jason Cornwell from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office tells TV3 charges are pending for a man they chased into West Virginia just after midnight Tuesday.

Cornwell says 22-year-old Matthew Cameron was driving north on Route 11 near Rutherford Crossing when police suspected he was driving drunk.

Officials say when they ran the license plate, they discovered the 2010 Toyota Tacoma truck Cameron was driving had been reported stolen earlier in the day.

Police chased after Cameron, but he took off on Route 11 and crossed into West Virginia.

That is where Berkeley County Sheriff's deputies and West Virginia State Police eventually caught up to him on Route 9. The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office used spike strips to deflate the back tire of the truck.

Sgt. Cornwell says Cameron is at the Eastern Regional Jail in West Virginia, but Frederick County has several charges pending, including grand larceny, driving without a license, reckless driving, and D.U.I.
