The town of Front Royal hopes to have a design in place for a major road project by later this fall.
Leaders hope construction will begin in the winter.
We're talking about the Leach Run Parkway Project.
It'll be a connecting road between Happy Creek Road and Route 55.
For the past twenty years, they've been working on making it a reality.
They say it will relieve traffic congestion from trucks heading to Happy Creek Technology Park.
"Currently, Happy Creek Road and that general vicinity needs to be reconstructed, has been discussed for years. To be upgraded and improved. A connector road between Happy Creek Road and 55 will take some of the traffic pressures off of the west side of Happy Creek Road."
Childress says Front Royal has taken the lead on this project, but Warren County is working on it too, because anything done in the town, affects the county.
