Officers Warn To Not Pass School Buses

Posted: Thu 5:33 PM, Jan 17, 2013

The Winchester Police Department has received several complaints about people passing school buses.

The law requires you to stop when a school bus has its flashing red lights on and its stop sign out. On a road with four lanes without a divider, vehicles traveling in both directions are required to stop. Valley Avenue and Pleasant Valley Road are two examples.

Winchester Police say violators will be charged with reckless driving. It's a Class 1 Misdemeanor. You can go to jail for a year or get a $2,500 fine.
