NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Norfolk Public Schools is switching to day high school football games following the fatal shooting of a student after a night contest.

Media outlets say school officials cited safety concerns for the decision.

Games scheduled for Friday nights will now be played on Saturday afternoons for the rest of the 2012 regular season. School officials said Tuesday that a decision regarding postseason games hasn't been made.

Norfolk police say 19-year-old Lake Taylor High School student David L. White was fatally shot Friday night following the school's game at Booker T. Washington High School. The shooting occurred a couple of blocks away from the game.

A 15-year-old has been charged with murder.
