The Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center in Frederick County has a new superintendent.
His name is James Whitley, and he comes from serving with Fairfax County. He took over the position in the beginning of August and has been learning the area and working toward keeping the tight budget at the jail.
He's also got plans to prevent inmates from being accidentally released from the jail, something that happened a few months ago.
"I think you have to review your policies and ensure that everybody understands what those policies entail. You set up fail safes to make sure those things don't happen again," he explained.
The new superintendent would also like to bring pay raises to the jail's employees, but says, it all depends on how much the economy will allow in the budget in the coming years.
