Another utility project in Winchester, that hasn't started yet, is going to have an impact on next year's Apple Blossom Wine Festival and the Midway.
The construction on the Old Town Pedestrian Mall is scheduled to start January 2nd. Public Utilities Director Perry Eisenach says they're trying to get the construction complete by Apple Blossom, but they had to tell festival organizers to find a new location just in case the project got delayed because of unexpected bad weather. The wine festival and midway vendors will not be on the Old Town Mall next year. Apple Blossom organizers say it's important to them to keep the festivities in the Old Town area.
They're planning on using nearby streets, alleys and parking lots around the mall. They haven't said yet exactly where those things will be.
