The students at Admiral Richard E. Byrd Middle School didn't have to wait until Thanksgiving to see a turkey.
Eddie Hillyard, a history teacher at the school, wore a turkey costume after winning a bet.
It's all part of an effort to raise money and food for the local salvation army.
"If we can give back to the community and help out, I think it's a good thing for the schools to be doing, and it's a good lesson to be teaching the kids about giving to those who are less fortunate," said Hillyard.
Hillyard's students raised the most money in the competition.
Overall, the students raised $300 and 200 cans of foods.
Although the competition for the turkey suit is over, the food drive will continue throughout the holiday season.
